Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Educational Development

This workshop will encompass a brief introduction to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) as it pertains to educational development. Prior to the workshop, participants will review pre-reading materials and participate in an interactive Padlet. During the workshop there will be an initial overview of the topic of EDI, and together, we will then reflect upon and discuss EDI from two distinct, yet overlapping foci:
- EDI and educational developers (i.e. what EDI entails from the personal end of being an educational developer), and
- EDI and educational development (i.e. providing faculty with EDI-oriented pedagogical support).
Session Outcomes
- Introduce several salient components of EDI
- Discuss how EDI can pertain to us directly as educational developers.
- Reflect on the complexities of supporting EDI-oriented pedagogy with instructors.
- Identify pathways through which to navigate these complexities

For this workshop, we’d like for you to “choose your own adventure” when it comes to our pre-reading materials. This means you’re welcome to do what works for you at this particular moment in time, whether that be only reading the article(s), simply watching the video, or doing both!
